Lousy Internet

We have a horrible connection tonight. We’re in Caliente, NV and saw a lot of neat things that I want to post about.

Scooter hurt her back tonight and there is no vet here in Caliente so we’re headed for Las Vegas early in the morning. She has a vet there that we like and they can get us in when we get there.

I did give Scootz a pain pill and she is doing a little better but can’t get up stairs. Her hind legs just aren’t working very well. I’ll give you an update as soon as I can tomorrow.

  1. Oh poor Scootz. We both know how painful back pain is. Hopefully the pain pill will allow her to get some sleep.

  2. Oh the poor little thing... hope it something easy like a slipped disc or something to pop right back?

HUGS for a restful night ....

  3. Oh, poor baby. I hope that it turns out to be something that clears up quickly. The Traveling Longdogs send their sympathy and puppy kisses for a speedy recovery.

  5. Oh, my goodness, Sandie, poor Scootz. I read your comment before getting to you on my reader. I hope you can get help for her in Vegas. I can empathize with a back that hurts and so can Jim.

My brother-in-law had a dachshund, and if I recall correctly they are susceptible to back injury because of their long spine. Give her a smooch for me, and please keep us posted about her. At least you know a vet in Las Vegas which doesn't look too far away on the map, and there is Mesquite in-between.

My memory isn't as bad as I thought! Thanks for scratching that itch--I was thinking about it on and off all day. We were going to do 50, but the breakdown happened not too long after getting on 50--fortunately, we thought at the only wide place we could pull off and where a flat bed could maneuver to get in front of it. They had to come all the way from Elko which took hours, and then we followed them back and stayed overnight in the parking lot of the repair shop, then spent 4 days in a nearby motel. We were disappointed that we never did get to drive 50, but felt fortunate that it wasn't too long of a drive for Rich to find a cell signal to get help. Not cool, as you say.

When I traveled alone, there were a few times in the desert where I wondered how far it was if I needed a vet for Jack. I had to take him in New Mexico and Oregon so I was lucky. Again, I hope poor little Scootz is better by the time I read your next post--I smile every time I visit your site when I see those two darling little faces looking at me.

  13. Finding a vet on the road is one of the big problems of the mobile life style. That and a good hairdresser. Hope Scooter will be ok.
