SCOOTER

We needed to find a vet as soon as we got to Albuquerque because Scooter’s leg was bleeding and we needed to have her checked out. We didn’t get in early enough on Thursday but I found an AAHA accredited vet on line that I didn’t think was too far from our campground.

Called them early Friday morning and they could get us in at 11:00. Of course, we have to take Skittlez with us because she cries and cries and cries if she’s left alone. The vet took a scraping and determined that Scooter had scraped her leg and it was infected. He gave us some antibiotics and put a bandage on her leg. Yeah, like that’s going to work.

IMG_1141 The bandage didn’t last long. We bought some baby socks and Jim was able to figure out how to make that stay up on her leg. At least she’s not bleeding any longer and it doesn’t seem to bother her at all. The original pills made her throw up. (We had to wash sheets and blankets.) We’re now on a new antibiotic that hopefully won’t upset her stomach quite so bad.

  4. Poor Scooter...sure hope she heals up fast. Rusty scraped his leg when we were on our trip but it didn't look infected. I used a non-stick Telfa pad with antibiotic ointment, and then wrapped a self-sticking elastic bandage over it then paper tape on top of the elastic. Surprisingly, he left it alone totally. He even seemed thankful every time I changed it. That would never happen with our girl Poppy! Please let us know how Scooter is doing.

  7. Have been wondering how Scooter's leg is coming along. I think I had left an earlier comment on your post about Scooter but with this recent Blogger ker-fuffle a lot of the comment sections on people's blogs have been affected. Anyway, hope the Scooter guy is feeling better:))
